Promoted by ArgonautsFilm and Carlo Mazzacurati Film School. The project, winner of the SIAE call “Per chi crea”, was founded with the aim of creating a professional development program for young artists in the film industry, specifically screenwriters, directors, and actors. Casa d'artista was also created thanks to the collaboration with Casa sul Piave Goffredo Parise, and the support of the Cinema Odeon in Vicenza and the Veneto Film Commission.
Under the guidance of professionals, the kids will be guided through the creation of a short film: from idea to production.
The privileged space for action will be Goffredo Parise's Casa sul Piave, in Salgareda (Treviso), the place where the writer retreated to find new inspiration. Here he wrote "I sillabari," a work that is part of the national literary heritage. A refuge where characters and stories were born, starting from a specific source and becoming universal archetypes.
The competition includes three calls: one for screenwriters, one for directors and one for actors under 35 residents in Italy.
Call for Screenwriters
To participate as a screenwriter, you must submit a film adaptation of one of the Syllabaries' stories, of your choice. The adaptation must be in the form of a story and must be in tune with the writer's sensibility, capturing the atmosphere of the places and characters, of his or her world.
The subjects must be sent no later than Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
They will be 2 winners declared who will be able to participate in the residency and who, together with the professional tutor, will write the original screenplay for the final short film.
Call for directors
To participate as a director, you must submit a short showreel composed exclusively of photographs, in color or black and white, that take inspiration from one of the Syllabaries listed on the dedicated page on the website.
The composition of your photos should capture the soul of the story, of the place—whatever the chosen setting—and of the characters who inhabit it: a search for faces, expressions, and attitudes that immerse the viewer in the story. A personal musical accompaniment is recommended, in keeping with the emotion you wish to convey.
Showreels must be submitted no later than Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Will be 1 winner declared who will be able to participate in the residency and, under the supervision of a professional tutor, will prepare and shoot the final short film.
Call for Actors
To participate as an actor, you must submit a video reading a story of your choice from one of the Syllabaries.
The required acting is free of overly marked inflections and even overly precise diction; it should take on a natural tone, conveying the atmosphere tied to the roots of a physical place, but also of the soul: the home.
The requested material must be sent no later than Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
They will be 3 winners announced who will be able to participate in the residency and who, together with professional tutors, will prepare and perform their roles in the final short film.
