Synopsis

Princess Dala receives as a gift from her father the largest diamond in the world, the Pink Panther, so called because of a small defect inside it: a pink spot whose shape resembles that of a leaping panther. Twenty years later, the death of the maharajah and a coup d'état in her country force Dala into exile. During a holiday in Cortina d'Ampezzo she meets the English playboy Sir Charles Lytton, ignoring his double life: he is The Primrose, a jewelry thief known all over the world for his misdeeds, and has long since put his eyes on the Pink Panther. To investigate on him there is the clumsy French inspector Jacques Clouseau, unaware that his own wife is the lover and dealer of the Primrose himself.
