Synopsis

1911. Venice is the destination of the carefree bourgeoisie, in full Belle Époque spirit, unaware of the tragedies that are about to fall upon Europe. The composer Gustav von Aschenbach is staying at the luxurious Grand Hôtel des Bains. His quiet is disturbed by the presence of a young ephebe, the Polish Tadzio, who seems to embody the ideal of ethereal beauty that the composer had desperately tried to express in his creations. Von Aschenbach dreams of approaching him, questioning the certainties of his whole life.
