to know and promote the "Veneto cinema system"“

Veneto Region and Veneto Film Commission at the 81st Venice International Film Festival with a panel of over 70 events to deepen, understand and promote the "Veneto cinema system".

The meetings, from August 29th to September 7th at Veneto Region / Veneto Film Commission space at the Hotel Excelsior on the Venice Lido, For many years, the Festival has represented a valuable opportunity for the national and international audiovisual world, providing visibility and networking opportunities for cultural institutions, associations, industry professionals, directors, actors, and producers from the Veneto region. This is achieved through an international showcase, like that offered by the Venice Film Festival, which welcomes professionals and enthusiasts from around the world.

A meeting place to discuss and reflect on the current state of the Veneto film industry from a cultural and production perspective, and on the support provided by the Region and the VFC to film and audiovisual production companies, fostering training, innovation, and employment.

“The role of the Veneto Film Commission – intervenes the President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia – Over the years, it has managed to conquer ever-larger market shares, strengthening a film industry that has long been lacking in our region. We're talking about major international productions that have found a home in Veneto and provided work for hundreds of film industry leaders, but also smaller productions that leverage their cultural approach and the interaction between the region and the audience as their strength and narrative power. The desire today, at the opening of this extraordinary edition of the Venice Film Festival, is to continue investing in a sector that has found new life and new stimuli after Covid. Veneto will be at the center of major international cinema in the coming days.

“Following the positive results achieved under the POR FESR 2014–2020, with a total investment of 9.5 million euros, 20 productions of feature films, television series and animated series and 29 productions of documentaries and short films were financed – underlines the’Councillor for Culture of the Veneto Region Cristiano Corazzari This positive outcome prompted the administration to propose a specific initiative, within the ERDF 2021–2027 Regional Programme, to support film production with a total allocation of €20 million. Film is also supported through initiatives involving film exhibitors, or initiatives such as "Quality Cinema" or "Young People at the Cinema," which complement the promotion of film culture through calls for grants to support the organization of film festivals and events. These support, investments, and actions by the Veneto Region, combined with the valuable work of the Veneto Film Commission Foundation, now constitute the "Veneto Film System.".

“Julian Schnabel with In the hands of Dante (filmed between Venice, Padua and Verona) and Marco Tullio Giordana with Life next door, a masterpiece entirely from Vicenza and with an almost entirely Venetian cast, are just two of the greats of Cinema who have decided to set their works in our territory – highlights the President of the Veneto Film Commission Foundation Luigi Bacialli – Not to mention television dramas like One step away from heaven, moved from Alto Adige to Cadore or that of the commissioner Stucky, starring Giuseppe Battiston, filmed entirely in Treviso and set to air in November on Raidue. These are just some of the more than 100 Italian, Veneto, and foreign productions supported in 2023-2024 by the Veneto Film Commission Foundation, the result of the intense work of director Jacopo Chessa and his staff. Now in its fifth year, the Veneto Film Commission Foundation presents itself at the Venice Film Festival with a new Board of Directors and the results of its close collaboration with the Veneto Region, which has reconfirmed the €4 million made available through regional calls for proposals that will allow it to attract further productions for 2025. The prospects, at a time when cinema has started to thrive again, give rise to optimism.
