Presentation

Burano is one of the islands in the municipality of Venice, located in the northern part of the lagoon and connected to the island of Mazzorbo by a bridge. It is characterized by the diversity and vibrancy of the colors of the houses in the town center, which are reflected in the green waters of the canals. The colorful houses typical of the island are generally square in shape and consist of two or three floors, with the kitchen and services on the ground floor and rooms on the upper floors. Piazza Galuppi is the only one on the island, and it is home to the Church of San Martino Vescovo, with a famous painting by Gian Battista Tiepolo inside, and the Chapel of Santa Barbara. The same square also houses the Lace Museum, the Town Hall building, a well made of Istrian stone and the statue of Baldassare Galuppi made by Remigio Barbaro.
