Palazzo Barbieri (also Palazzo della Gran Guardia Nuova or Palazzo del Municipio), is a majestic Neoclassical building, influenced by the ancient Roman temples architectural style, which was built between 1836 and 1848, and which had military functions when Verona was under the Austrian dominion. Since 1869, it became the seat of the local government (the City Hall) due to its importance and central position.
