It is among the major Medieval courts, and it was built at the end of the 13th century; it hosted many poets, painters, musicians and artists of that period. Also known as the Scaligeri?s palace, palace of the Government or seat of the Prefecture, it consists of an organic complex of buildings arranged around three sides of a rectangular inner yard. The façade boasts a magnificent Renaissance portal by Michele Sanmicheli that reminds us of Roman triumphal arches.
