Presentation

The Little Dolomites represent the mountain group of the Vicentine Pre-Alps subsection, located on the border between the provinces of Vicenza, Trento and Verona. Their name, which echoes that of the better-known Dolomites, refers to the massive presence of sedimentary rock called dolomite, of carbonate origin. They generally include the Pasubio massif, the Sengio Alto chain, the Carega group, and the Tre Croci chain. The Little Dolomites stretch for about 30 km taking on an arc shape and dominate a verdant valley, so lush that the town of Recoaro Terme has been given the appellation "emerald basin." The landscape is a meeting of opposing geometries: vertical dolomite spires contrast with the plateaus of the Lessinia Regional Nature Park, the Sette Comuni and the Great Plain. Popular with hikers, the Little Dolomites offer, in addition to natural landscapes.
