Vicenza centro storico

Located in the heart of the Veneto region, Vicenza is the city of Andrea Palladio, referred to as the "theater-city" because it is a treasure trove of numerous architectural masterpieces. Andrea Palladio linked his name to this city thanks in part to his architectural works, and in 1994 the historic center of Vicenza was included by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Corso Palladio, the city's main pedestrian street, connects Piazza del Castello with Piazza Matteotti and gathers many historic buildings, such as: Palazzo Thiene Bonin Longare, Palazzo Porto Breganze, the Church of San Filippo Neri, Palazzo Trissino-Baston, the Church of San Gaetano Thiene, and Palazzo Leone Montanari. Piazza dei Signori is the most representative place in Vicenza, overlooked by: the monumental Palladian Basilica with its double order of Serlian loggias, the 82-meter-high Bissara tower, the 16th-century Loggia del Capitaniato, the work of Palladio.
