Good news: MiC has also renewed its contract for 2024. Film Distribution Fund, active since 2018 and aimed at supporting the sale of Italian films to local foreign distributors through support for the purchase of exploitation rights in the country in which they operate.
The fund's endowment is 1.6 million euros, divided into two evaluation sessions of 800 thousand euros each, expiring:
- October 15, 2024
- December 15, 2024
The contribution is intended for “theatrical” distribution and each title can aspire to a maximum contribution increased to 50 thousand euros per country of distribution.
The Film Distribution Fund it is a support scheme introduced into Italian legislation by Law no. 220 of 2016, Articles No. 10, No. 26 and No. 27, for the granting of contributions for the distribution beyond national borders of Italian films with priority for cinematic exploitation. The contribution is part of the Internationalization Funds and is regulated by the 2024 Guidelines published with Directorial Decree of 13 September 2024 no. 3091.
Eligible applicants are foreign distributors with registered offices worldwide, except Italy, San Marino, and the Vatican City. For applications related to theatrical distribution, the maximum grant available is €50,000.
