Primavera by Damiano Michieletto, taken from Stabat Mater by Tiziano Scarpa, set in early 18th-century Venice with Michele Riondino in the role of Antonio Vivaldi. It tells the story of Cecilia, a young orphaned violinist from the Ospedale della Pietà, whose destiny is transformed by the arrival of the great maestro. The film, produced by Indigo Film, Moana Films, and Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. as best International Feature Film to the Audience Choice Awards of the 61st Chicago International Film Festival.
The film, shot with the support of the Veneto Region through the PR-FESR Call and the Veneto Film Commission, will be released in Italian theaters on December 25th. Filmed almost entirely in Venice, amidst its streets, canals, and historic buildings, it has already been sold to over 20 countries.
