Within the REEL project — A cinematic journey through Italy and Croatia, funded by the INTERREG Italy-Croatia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027 — Art-kino (Kvarner Film Commission) has launched a public call to select 12 aspiring location scouts or early career professionals for a cross-border training course to be held in Rijeka from 18 to 22 February 2026. The primary objective of the training is to provide participants with practical and professional training in location scouting, with a focus on destination management, logistics, sustainability, and legal aspects. The program will be led by experienced professionals from the film and tourism industries. Through this call, Art-kino (Kvarner Film Commission), in collaboration with the REEL project consortium, invites suitable candidates from Italy and Croatia to submit their applications for this unique opportunity to gain practical experience and insights into one of the most dynamic roles in the film production and destination marketing ecosystem. The call is open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 40, born or resident in the areas covered by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme 2021-2027 (Adriatic regions of Croatia and Italy). Candidates must have excellent English proficiency (application language and training working language) and demonstrate a strong interest in filmmaking, location-based storytelling, and visual composition, as well as curiosity and the ability to evaluate locations from an aesthetic, logistical, and legal perspective.
In order to ensure equal opportunities and balanced participation, the selection process will aim to include:
• 6 participants from Croatia
• 6 participants from Italy
The area eligible for the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme includes the following NUTS III regions:
• Italy: Teramo, Pescara, Chieti (Abruzzo); Brindisi, Lecce, Foggia, Bari, Barletta-Andria-Trani (Puglia); Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, Rimini (Emilia-Romagna); Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia, Trieste (Friuli Venezia Giulia); Pesaro and Urbino, Ancona, Macerata, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo (Marche); Campobasso (Molise); Venice, Padua, Rovigo (Veneto)
• Croatia: Primorsko-goranska, Ličko-senjska, Zadarska, Šibensko-kninska, Splitsko-dalmatinska, Istarska, Dubrovačko-neretvanska (Adriatic Croatia), Karlovačka (Pannonian Croatia)
The deadline for submitting an application for this call is December 14, 2025 at 11.59pm CET.
The selected participants, whose travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by Rijeka They will be covered, involved in field exercises, interactive workshops, and creative group work. They will also have the opportunity to build their professional portfolios and cross-border networks in a real-world learning environment.
