Article 54bis of Legislative Decree No. 165 of March 30, 2001, introduced by Anti-Corruption Law No. 190/2012 and subsequently amended by Law No. 179/2017, introduces "Provisions for the protection of those who report crimes or irregularities of which they have become aware in the context of a public or private employment relationship," known as whistleblowing. Specifically, paragraph 5 stipulates that, in accordance with the new ANAC guidelines, whistleblowing procedures must have specific characteristics. Specifically, they "include the use of IT methods and promote the use of encryption tools to ensure the confidentiality of the whistleblower's identity and the content of the reports and related documentation.".
