Are you an author with an original idea for a documentary?
Do you want to develop it with the support of industry experts?
NIUDOC It is an initiative of CNA Cinema Audiovisivo FVG, CNA Cinema Audiovisivo Veneto, Pordenone Docs Fest – The Voices of Documentary, and Lago Film Fest, in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
- Authors under 35 with a documentary project (without limitations on format, type or theme, including VR/XR and new media)
- National and international authors interested in developing projects connected or linked to the Tri-Veneto region (Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino, and Veneto regions), with its territories and its histories, or with a cross-border perspective and linked to the Balkan area (particularly Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia).
- The idea can be for a feature film, short film, or medium-length film. Even if you haven't yet decided on the format for your idea, you can still submit it!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- The first phase of pitch (the presentation will be in English) and meetings will take place on March 27, 2026 in Pordenone.
- The selected projects will participate in a series of speed dating matchmaking sessions with established manufacturing companies in the Northeast and the Balkans, creating concrete opportunities for project development.
- An online tutoring program will guide authors in developing, writing, and producing a pitch deck and teaser, between April and July, which will be presented in July 2026 at Lago Film Fest.
- In both Pordenone and Revine Lago, a jury of experts will decide the winner.
Winning Projects Will Receive:
- Cinema Rental: voucher for equipment rental
- KublaiFilm: realization of the DCP
- ZaLab: the opportunity for a possible distribution on the ZaLab View streaming platform
Furthermore, in Pordenone each selected project will be able to compete for two prestigious awards dedicated to the support and development of the film:
- the DocsConnect Taskovski Training Award in collaboration with Taskovski Films
- L’'Imprint Films Consultancy Award in collaboration with Impronta Films, which offers up to 6 mentoring sessions over a 12-month period, for a documentary project in development
During the participation in the Lago Film Fest in July 2026, the winning project will be offered the opportunity to start a collaboration with Lake Platform, as part of the numerous initiatives organized throughout the year.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Project applications may be submitted in Italian. If selected, materials and the project presentation must be in English.
Only projects owned by the author are eligible.
Selected authors are required to confirm their participation within 48 hours of receiving notification of selection, as well as to ensure their complete availability for the meetings scheduled at the respective festivals and for the tutoring program.
