On Saturday, January 24th, at 5:30 pm, Cortina d'Ampezzo will host the preview of the film Rosso Volante, directed by Alessandro Angelini and starring Giorgio Pasotti, both of whom were present at the event at Alexander Hall. The film is dedicated to the legendary Eugenio Monti (Dobbiaco, January 23, 1928 – Belluno, December 1, 2003), one of the greatest Italian winter sports champions of all time, with nine gold medals at the World Championships, seven of them in bobsleigh.
The announcement was made by the Veneto Region's Councillor for Culture, Valeria Mantovan, emphasizing the cultural and symbolic value of the initiative on the path to Milan Cortina 2026.
“Rosso Volante "It is a work that brings to the public an extraordinary story of sport, ethics, and Venetian identity," said Councillor Mantovan. "Eugenio Monti's human and sporting story speaks to all generations and fits perfectly into the cultural journey that accompanies the Winter Olympics, promoting Cortina and the Veneto region as places of memory, talent, and international vision. His exemplary gesture during the 1964 Olympics has gone down in history as an example of sportsmanship, altruism, and profound respect for Olympic values, embodying the true spirit of sport beyond any competitive result.".
The film, a co-production between RAI Fiction, Wonder Film, and Wonder Project, was made with the contribution of the Veneto Region under the Veneto FESR 2021-2027 Regional Development Fund (PR Veneto FESR) and with the support of the Veneto Film Commission Foundation. Included in the program of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Cultural Olympics, Rosso Volante will be broadcast on Raiuno, in prime time, on February 23.
The Veneto Film Commission, which has supported the project since its development stages, also expressed satisfaction.
